Piano City Napoli 2019: the event dedicated to the piano returns to Naples

Piano City Napoli is back on 5, 6 and 7 April: one of the most important appointments with music in the city is renewed.

The absolute protagonist of the happening, as always, will be the piano, whose music will resonate in every corner of the city: wonderful squares, museums, ancient buildings, but also subways, stations and lounges of Neapolitan houses.

55 places scattered throughout the city, all with free admission, will be the stage for performances by concert pianists, music lovers and students who will perform in many musical genres, from classical to jazz, from contemporary to rock and pop, all interpreted exclusively on the piano.

Friday, April 5, the opening concert of Piano City Napoli 2019 in Piazza del Plebiscito

The event will open on April 5 at 21 with a large concert of 21 pianos in Piazza del Plebiscito.

The program this time will focus on the operatic repertoire of Mozart, Puccini, Bizet, Rossini, in particular famous overtures of operas such as The Magic Flute, Manon Lescaut, Carmen, the thieving magpie. It is also planned to perform two other pieces that have defied the centuries: Air on the G String by J. S. Bach and The Dance by G. Rossini.

New compared to previous editions is the participation of the "Orchestra Regionale di Pianoforti dei Licei Musicali della Campania", composed of 21 students selected through a regional call, which will precede the inauguration performing music by Satie and Mozart.

The 21 young people from Campania have been selected through a regional call, promoted by Miur and delegated to USR campania for the diffusion of the musical, choreographic and theatrical culture coordinated by Liceo "Alfano I" of Salerno, to which more than 400 students from the different high schools of Campania have adhered.
The pianists will be coordinated by Patrizio Marrone and directed by Mariano Patti.
