Covid-free islands: Campania ready for summer tourism 2021

As well as in Greece, the islands of Naples are the first locations in Italy to be officially Covid free. The President of the Regional Government in Campania Vincenzo De Luca succeeded: Procida, Capri and Ischia are now Covid-free islands, meaning islands where their inhabitants are all vaccinated against Sars-CoV2.

The first one was Procida and now Capri. Ischia, probably for the end of May, will vaccine all its citizens.

This is a reason for happiness for many tourist workers on the islands, but also an argument for discussion for others. Inevitably, the rest of the Italians or people in other parts of the region have felt discriminated against.

In short, a decision that has led to a little chaos too! But on the other hand, everyone agrees that we need to restart the businesses and decrease the epidemics in a way.

So, what are you waiting for?! Book your Summer Holidays on the Islands of Naples!

Procida is the First Covid free Island in Italy

At the beginning of the year, Procida was elected Italian Capital of Culture 2022 and now it has reached another record: to be the first Covid free island in Italy. Beating in time the close Capri and Ischia, Procida has been the first location to vaccinate all its inhabitants.

Procida is the most beloved island by the intellectuals in the Gulf of Naples and it is now available to welcome tourists safely. For Procida, tourism is the only strong business and because of the pandemic, no more tourists have landed for months.

Until the last 2nd May, doctors and nurses have worked tirelessly from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Vaccine Center set up in the City Hall. Many young people joined and have been vaccinated, in particular during the weekend.

Among the vaccines, they used the Johnson & Johnson one for the people that work in the sea, because they always travel for the job and so they don't have the time to wait for the second dose. This is another important goal for mayor Raimondo Ambrosino, who throws down a challenge: propose Procida as an experimental model to follow.

The first tourists arrive on the island of Capri covid free

A few days ago, the entire population of Capri is completely immune to the Covid-19. The place already counts the first tourists, who they feel safer now on the island. The Blue Island's streets have immediately started to revive.

As well as in Procida, in Capri, the vaccine administration is also for the seasonal employees who go to work on the island in Summer. The optimism dominates the cult places of the island: from Marina Grande to the famous Piazzetta, where all its four bars have reopened. Also, Via Camerelle with its boutiques begins to reanimate en masse and the most famous hotels of the island are organising their opening for Summer.

Ischia is the third Covid-free island: let's get vaccinated to revive tourism

More or fewer than 20thousands of people received the first dose of the vaccine. Into the two vaccine-hubs arranged in Ischia and Forio Indoor Stadiums, every day about 1800 doses are injected.

The mass vaccination campaign continues at full speed in Ischia, the biggest and most populous island in the Gulf of Naples. Mayor Enzo Ferrandino said that the target will be to reach the status of Covid free place for the end of May.

Hoteliers, restaurateurs and shopkeepers of the island are hopeful. They have reopened their businesses and are looking forward to hosting the first tourists.
